You stand in front of a crossroad. Go left and you‘ll support the use of military force to prevent civilians from death in the conflict. Go right and you‘ll choose to refrain from the use of violence, while supporting other actions that can save lives. What will you choose? Complicated issues such as peace and conflict rarely have simple answers. In the Norwegian Peace Council we know that there are many paths that leads to peace. It is the sum of these roads that create a vibrant and colorful, rich peace movement. Therefore, we are committed to be a place of peace where different choices can be discussed and where the peacework of tomorrow take shape.
As an active voice in the peace debate, we take the initiative to strengthen peace organizations’ possibilities for cooperation and the ability to influence political processes. The Norwegian Peace Council is a leading force in the work of disarmament, conflict resolution and peace building. We want to promote innovative civil and non-violent alternatives to the use of military force. For over 60 years we have worked to promote peace efforts in Norway. Today we have over 20 member organizations that together constitute the backbone of the Norwegian peace movement.
